What is the Watershed Institute?

CWP’s Watershed Institute in Columbia, SC will be an intensive and interactive four-day learning experience specifically designed to help public and private sector watershed professionals:

  • Develop comprehensive, effective watershed management plans;
  • Learn new watershed assessment techniques for use in both the office and the field;
  • Improve knowledge of better site design, stormwater management, agricultural practices, and other key aspects of watershed
    protection; and
  • Exchange ideas with other watershed professionals.

The Watershed Institute will be geared toward the how to's of developing sound watershed protection and restoration plans.  This institute will enable practitioners to learn about all of the pieces of a watershed plan, including evaluating local programs; goal setting; field assessments of streams, uplands, forests, and wetlands; prioritizing projects, measuring improvements, and involving stakeholders.  This four-day institute is designed for local planners and engineers, elected officials, watershed organizations, state agencies, and the private sector to obtain hands on instruction.
