The Chesapeake Bay Stormwater Training Partnership was created to deliver targeted training on new tools and practices to improve the quality of stormwater runoff. The Partnership works with stormwater design professionals from local government and the private sector to understand and apply the latest stormwater management design and implementation strategies. You can join the training partnership by registering at this website, and get access to a tiered training program that is tailored around new state stormwater regulations in DC, MD, VA, and WV. The Partnership offers many convenient ways to learn and apply runoff reduction and environmental site design practices to development and redevelopment sites across the Chesapeake Bay watershed. The Partnership consists of State stormwater agencies, statewide professional associations, master stormwater practitioners, and the Center for Watershed Protection, and is coordinated by the Chesapeake Stormwater Network. |
Why do we need a Training Partnership in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed?
Sharp nutrient reductions from land development are only possible when hundreds of communities across the watershed shift to new stormwater and environmental site design practices. DC, MD, VA, and WV are all in the process of crafting new stormwater regulations and design manuals that incorporate new stormwater concepts such as runoff reduction, low impact development and environmental site design. Past experience has shown that new stormwater paradigms are slow to take hold in the local site design and plan review community, unless aggressive efforts are made to train these professionals on how to apply them in their everyday
practice. The Partnership will deliver free or low cost training to thousands of Bay watershed designers and reviewers, through (1) webcasts; (2) one-day design workshops; (3) intensive “master” stormwater design seminars; (4) on-site technical assistance by Stormwater Circuit Riders; and (5) self guiding web-based learning modules. |

How do I join the Partnership and get involved?
Joining the Partnership is easy (and fun!). Go to the Enrollment screen, fill in your contact and other information, and then complete a short Stormwater Survey. As you complete individual training events you will be asked to continue to provide input by way of shorter surveys so that we may continue to improve the delivery and content of the training. |
