Job Description:
The Center for Watershed Protection is seeking a program director with 15+ years of experience in watershed protection and restoration. The program director will lead, manage, and participate in projects; supervise talented high functioning staff; generate new work; and participate in the Center management team
in Ellicott City, Maryland.
While projects may vary, examples of typical projects include writing and participating in watershed plans, teaching practitioners methods for stream assessments and uplands restoration, writing state and local stormwater guidance, participating in field work, managing complex projects with highly skilled team members, writing successful proposals, representing the organization at watershed conferences, directly supervising and mentoring staff, participating in fundraising efforts, and writing articles on innovative watershed practices.
Prior experience must include working on watershed plans; watershed and stream assessments; stormwater practice design and planning; and/or local MS4 program development and management. Experience in the design and implementation of watershed restoration practices, stormwater treatment practices, or stormwater retrofits a plus. Proven success in project management, proposal writing, and establishing a client base is mandatory. Excellent written and verbal communication skills a must, including extensive experience delivering presentations and facilitating workshops. Applicant must be willing to travel and conduct field work.
Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) in engineering, biology, planning, natural resources, landscape architecture, or other relevant field desired. This is a great opportunity for senior managers interested in helping shape the future of a reputable and stable organization with a cause.

The Center for Watershed Protection has several openings for highly motivated individuals who have the drive and desire to work in a creative environment where protecting and restoring watersheds is paramount. We are looking for experienced individuals who can diagnose watershed problems, prescribe specific solutions, and help shape the future of the Center as we begin our strategic planning process. Our minimum qualifications include:
- Bachelors degree (Masters preferred) in civil or environmental engineering, environmental sciences, urban planning, landscape architecture, or related environmental field.
- Minimum of five years (10+ years preferred) of experience working on watershed protection or restoration plans; watershed and stream assessments; stormwater practice design and planning; or local MS4 program development and management.
- Willingness to travel and conduct field work.
- Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, including extensive experience delivering presentations and facilitating workshops.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to learn quickly, master new skills and work in a fast paced team environment.
