Protecting Lake Gaston's Watershed: Why you should care

LAKE GASTON — Water is one of the most precious resources in the Roanoke Valley and the Lake Gaston Association (LGA) is taking the lead in endeavors to protect their investment in the future.
The LGA is a member organization that works to protect the lake as a valuable resource and to give the people who live around the lake a voice in issues that impact their lives.
Members recently learned from Speaker Jack Saunders the importance of protecting and keeping the water in Lake Gaston clean. In providing a definition of a watershed, Saunders said it’s real simple: Water travels downhill. A watershed is the area around which water travels into a river system. People who live in the Roanoke Valley, not just on the waterfront, live in the Roanoke River Basin. Water from this area spills into the Roanoke River. Read more...
