Watershed and stormwater research studies from grey literature, as well as links to peer-reviewed sources are available. Materials published since 2005 form the basis of the content, along with seminal research papers. Materials are organized into seven general topics and include: stormwater, watershed, pollutants and pollutant sources, impacts, economics (costs and funding), modeling, and monitoring.

This synopsis focuses on federal laws and policies, but also acknowledges several notable water quality-related regulations that exist at a regional, state, or local level of government.
