Watershed and stormwater research studies from grey literature, as well as links to peer-reviewed sources are available. Materials published since 2005 form the basis of the content, along with seminal research papers. Materials are organized into seven general topics and include: stormwater, watershed, pollutants and pollutant sources, impacts, economics (costs and funding), modeling, and monitoring.

Example stormwater and watershed management manuals and plans are available for download along with Center for Watershed Protection guidance manuals. These include the Urban Subwatershed Restoration Manual series, Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination, Urban Watershed Forestry Manuals, among others.

This is a short summary of some of the regulatory drivers of water quality and watershed protection and stormwater management activities in the United States since the ratification of the Clean Water Act in 1972. This synopsis focuses on federal laws and policies, but also acknowledges several notable water quality-related regulations that exist at a regional, state, or local level of government.
