Our National Watershed & Stormwater Conferences are offered each Spring, and they provide a forum for sharing fresh ideas on the principles and practices of watershed and stormwater management. Building Capacity to Eliminate Discharges from Grey Infrastructure in Hampton Roads

Communities in the Chesapeake Bay watershed with municipal separate storm sewer system (MS4) permits are required to screen their stormwater outfalls to detect illicit discharges of sewage and other pollutants and take actions to eliminate them. In 2014, the EPA Chesapeake Bay Program (CBP) assembled an Expert Panel to evaluate the nutrient load reductions associated with the elimination of illicit discharges. The panel concluded that nutrient discharges from the sewer system collectively can contribute a significant portion of the dry weather nutrient loads in urban watersheds, and identified a set of actions above and beyond what is required in MS4 [...]

On November 16th and 17th, the Center for Watershed Protection hosted its very first Specialty Conference—an event with technical content, industry sponsors, and themed activities that were specifically designed around a focus area under the watershed and stormwater umbrella. Helping Municipalities Work Together to Achieve Clean Water in the Wyomissing

Over the past seven years, the Center for Watershed Protection (CWP) has provided technical assistance to the Wyomissing Creek Watershed Coalition, a unique coalition of eight municipalities that drain to the Wyomissing Creek in Berks County, Pennsylvania. As a cold water fishery with a naturally reproducing trout population, Wyomissing Creek has a special set of TMDL requirements. These municipalities share a single wasteload allocation as identified in the 2004 sediment TMDL and they work together to meet federal and state Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) stormwater requirements. Stormwater Jobs Training Program First Environmental Program to Receive National Accreditation

ELLICOTT CITY, Md. (January 23, 2020) – The Center for Watershed Protection today announced that its Clean Water Certificate (CWC) Training Program for Workforce Development, which launched in Baltimore in 2017, has gained ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) accreditation—the ANSI/ASTM E2659 accreditation for the Standard Practice for Certificate Programs. On April 10th, the Center for Watershed Protection hosted the third National Watershed and Stormwater Conference. This year’s conference focused on fresh ideas about funding and watershed and stormwater management.  We wanted to share a quick wrap-up and testimonials about this annual event!
