Clean Water Certificate Training Program: Instructor Preparation Program

Apply to become an Instructor for the Clean Water Certificate Training Program (CWC Program)! The CWC Program for workforce development is an ANSI National Accreditation Board (ANAB) accredited certificate program that promotes job growth in the stormwater industry and delivers hands-on, classroom, and field-based learning on industry-specific skills and knowledge. Successful completion of the Instructor Preparation Program (IPP) will permit qualified candidates to continuously administer the CWC Program, no continued education units required. Click here for more details about the CWC Program.

To participate in the IPP course, candidates must possess a set of pre-requisite qualifications, including:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field and 2 years of working knowledge of green infrastructure and stormwater management, or
  • 5 years of experience in the industry.

LOGISTICS:

The course is held virtually, in 2-hr. sessions, for five consecutive days. There are 15-30 minute “homework” assignments each day. Once registered for the course, you will be provided with a Zoom join link.

  • February 24 – 28, 2025, 1-3pm (Eastern Time) each day

  • August 25 – 29, 2025, 1-3pm (Eastern Time) each day

  • February 23 – 27, 2026, 1-3pm (Eastern Time) each day

A private class can be scheduled if a minimum of 5 participants are interested.

TO REGISTER:

Step 1: Qualified candidates must provide their resumes to Lea Spencer, CWP’s Training Manager to demonstrate that they meet the pre-requisite qualifications for admission to the Instructor Preparation Program. Click here for details.

Step 2: Pay associated fees and sign a CWC License Agreement.

Associated Fees:

  • A one-time Registration Fee of $2,000 will be required for each participant.
  • An annual License Fee will be required for the use of the CWC Program’s copyrighted materials and instructor resources. A License for one CWC Instructor costs $4,050. The annual License includes the Certificate Issuance Fee for your first 15 CWC Certificates. Discounted group rates are available for two or more CWC Instructors.
  • There will be a Certificate Issuance Fee of $50/participant in the CWC Program when qualified instructors are administering the CWC Program. **

Step 3: Make sure you have a quiet space with internet access to sign in to Zoom and participate in the IPP training on your scheduled training dates.

Additional Details:

  • With an annual license, instructors can train an unlimited number of participants during a one (1)-year period. This year-long period begins one (1) day after the successful completion of Instructor Preparation Program.
  • Instructors are independent contractors.
  • Candidates will be notified within 3 business days of acceptance into program and may schedule a time to make the payment via phone. Payments may also be made by check and mailed to: 11711 E. Market Place, Suite 200, Fulton, MD 20759.

*A minimum of 5 approved instructor candidates are required to host this Instructor Preparation Program installment. Maximum of 12 candidates for each Instructor Preparation Program installment.

**Certificate issuance fees are payable to the Center for Watershed Protection after successful completion of the CWC Program and completion of all administrative requirements.
